I lit a cig and took a puff,

Then put it out that was enough

for me,

Put my feet upon the ground,

Stood straight up then set back down

for tea.


And so my evening inches on--

setting sun rising dawn.


Oh I hear the bell and wonder

for whom it tolls today,

Will it shake me from my slumber

or lull me to the grave?


I awoke with a start,

And lay back down to calm my heart:

sleep,

Re-awoke that afternoon

for setting sun rising moon

in peace.


And nothing happened in between--

dreams unfinished sights unseen.
